Keep On Keeping On
A reflection on staying present, even when things change
Hi everyone,
I'm writing this from a different place than usual. I'm back in the state where I grew up, spending time with family. I'm with some of the people who are dearest to me, and I’m reflecting a bit on change and consistency.
t’s nice being with people who know me very well, who've seen me through different iterations in my life's story. They know the core person of who I am, beyond my projects.
In my mind, there is a connection here to my journey in the virtual world.
My path online has meandered. It has been a road of exploration, changing course, learning about myself, and adapting as the world around me changed. It is a journey towards stronger relationships and deeper clarity.
I heard a message recently that stuck with me: You can change your focus. You can pivot. You can evolve, and many of the same people will stay with you because fundamentally, they care about you.
Online, I started out anonymous, hesitant to even use my real name. Over time, I opened up, leading online communities and testing out different creative projects. I remain driven to make genuine connections and use technology for empowering projects.
This newsletter itself is part of that consistent thread, a way of remaining present and communicative.
I've seen people who are very active suddenly disappear, but I would prefer to see them pivot. There is real value in continuing to show up, continuing to evolve, while staying true to that core self that the people who matter can always recognize.
So this is a friendly check-in, a reminder to myself and maybe to you.
Our journeys don't have to be linear.
Our connections, both on and offline, matter deeply.
Until next time, keep on keeping on (in whatever form that takes for you).
Dan Ryan
