Discovering What You've Already Built
Creative Accidents & Ancient Patterns
Hi everyone,
Have you ever built something without fully understanding what it was?
That's what happened with Mandalafy. I was experimenting with AI tools, sharing my designs, playing with code... and suddenly realized I could create a design tool. One step led to another until I'd built a website where people could create mandalas and put them on products.

Only then did I ask on a deeper level: what exactly is a mandala?
Turns out they're ancient: used for millennia across cultures as meditation tools and windows to the subconscious. Tibetan monks spend weeks on sand mandalas only to sweep them away. Jung had patients draw them as therapy.
Traditional mandala creation is slow and intentional. What I've built is relatively quick and experimental. Yet something connects them.
Here's what fascinates me: watching how you use the tool reveals patterns I never expected. Some of you create designs that surprise me, even though I built the tool. It's like the true purpose only emerges through your creativity.
I'm noticing a parallel between how mandalas get created and how creative projects evolve. You start by experimenting, playing with possibilities. Then, as the structure takes shape, you become more intentional. Your experiments become cohesive. You see more clearly what you want to create next.
In our new world, can we connect ancient traditions to digital creation? Whether you're placing grains of sand or designing with a mouse and computer screen, you're creating something that captures a moment of your attention, your choices, your inner state.
Every mandala you create is one-of-a-kind. Whether you keep it digital, share it, or put it on a product, it's uniquely yours.
I'm still discovering what Mandalafy really is through watching what you create with it. I am grateful for everyone who participates.
Until next time,
Dan
