Creating Digital Gardens

Insights from Building Online Spaces

There's a concept I hear from time to time. Maybe you've seen it too.
Don't chase butterflies; plant a garden and let them come to you.

What I'm Discovering About My Approach

With my recent focus on building websites and communities, I'm noticing something about my natural tendencies. Sometimes, I’m drawn more toward creating interesting spaces than to the work of inspiring people to participate. Yet both are important. I’m finding the balance, considering what others need and what I want my approach to be.

Just an observation about what energizes me the most right now.

A New Project Taking Shape

On the topic of building websites, I've been absorbed lately in a new website project - Mandalafy.

The process of building, refining, and problem-solving has captured my full attention and creative energy—pulling me somewhat away from my usual social media presence and community activities.

It's still in early stages, but I wanted to share it first with you - my community, my newsletter subscribers. My newest project is mandalafy.com and this is how it works:

  • Create a cool design with the Mandalafy Design Tool that I created

  • Download, upload, and place your design on the product you select

  • Complete a purchase, quick and easy

I've worked extensively with AI throughout this process - from creating the Mandalafy Design Tool to building the website itself. At times, we went down the long, wrong road of troubleshooting, but through it all I'm learning to more effectively partner with AI.

I'm sharing now not because it's perfect, but because I'm finding joy in the building process and because you might enjoy seeing this site in its formative stages.

Questions I'm Sitting With

As I work on both mandalafy.com and TeamworkState (and towards ArtfulNetworks), I'm exploring:

  • The natural connection between products and communities that makes both stronger

  • Balancing creating versus promoting what was created

  • What makes digital spaces feel inviting

I'd be curious to hear your thoughts if any of this resonates.

An Invitation

If you're interested in exploring mandalafy.com in its early form, the door is open, just as my communities are open.

I know that meaningful connections happen when people discover something that genuinely interests them, and I invite you to explore the diverse spaces in the digital world that I am building.
